Cobalt Creative Begins Long-Planned Reorganization and Downsizing
March 1, 2004
Oakland, Calif. - Cobalt Creative has finished the ongoing reorganization of its Oakland, California head- quarters, which began in early 2002. "These moves cap what was for us a stronger-than-expected 2003," notes Cobalt CEO J. Arthur Sobul. "Everyone here is excited at the changes, and we're all looking forward to building on the success of 2003 as the new year progresses."
The changes were extensive, and the bulk of them occurred during the week of Thanksgiving when most of the staff was gone for the holiday. Most significant was the installation of a large picture window in the south wall of the office. This addition immediately improved the chi of the office by letting in copious amounts of morning light.
"Once we got the phone jack on that wall converted to a data line, all that was left to do was move all the damn furniture around," says Cobalt creative director "Sir" Geoffrey Sobul.
The main work desk now faces directly out the new window. "It will really improve my efficiency," "Sir" Geoffrey notes. "Now I won't have to turn my head to stare out the window."
The drawing table and associated "studio" furniture now reside where the desk had been, along the window-less north wall. "The color palate of all the furniture, the built-in shelves and various pieces of art work now match perfectly," "Sir" Geoffrey continues. "It's almost spooky how well it fits. On top of that, I really think these changes have improved the feng shui of the space, dude."
There is general consensus among the Cobalt staff about the improvements this latest phase of the reorganization have brought. General.
"It's amazing how much brighter it is in the work space with that window in," scowled staff artiste' Raven. "I loved the darkness of that area, especially in the winter. It should be dark! Everything should be dark! They've ruined it by letting in the light! Bastards!"
